TATTOO BOOKING

You can do a tattoo bookings request by filling in my tattoo booking form. I try to get in contact with you within 2 weeks. Please also check your spam-box. If you haven't heard from me within 2 weeks, you can send me an email on plakplaatjes.tattoo@gmail.com or send me a DM on Instagram.

     You will get all information needed on how to prepare for your appointment + how the appointment will look like when we finalise our appointment. If you would like to have this information beforehand, you could always let me know at the end of the form (second before last question).

Best is to read all info below before filling in my booking form. Most of the information below will again be shared in my booking form for the people who book directly via instagram.

ABOUT MY WORKMETHOD

Because this world is already so busy and there is also a lot of chaos in my head as a neurodivergent human being (I’m a autistic adhd’er), I came to learn that my art practice helps me to slow down. Over the years, I started to implement this idea into my tattoo practice. From the creating phase all the way till the end of our tattoo session; I choose to slow down during all the steps in the process. This so you and me both can allow ourselves to be in the moment.

What does this look like practically? Some examples:

• Almost all designs I make are created the analog way.

• I take the time during the start of the tattoo session so you are able to settle yourself properly and feel less overwhelmed by the new environment.

• We will take time during the stencilling process. We are able to try out different placements and I will guide you through the process.

• I make space/time to make the decision-making-process less overwhelming (we all know as neurodivergent human beings that desicion-making is really hard).

• I tattoo with the hand (handpoke) instead on with a machine. Placing every dot into the skin separately is really soothing for my nervous-system (it’s a way of stimming for me). For the client this method can feel meditative even.

INFO & ACCESSABILITY STUDIO:

I try to make space to make your appointment as comfortable as possible. I have a lot of experience with: people who are getting their first tattoo and tattooing neurodivergent people (I’m autistic myself and am an adhd’er). Please let me know if you have specific needs that I can accommodate you in. We can accommodate to a certain degree ourselves, but keep in mind that we can’t always control the other clients present in the shop. Below some more information:

• The studio is on the ground floor. There are two higher steps (a 13 and 20 cm high) in the studio to the toilet and tattoo area though. We are currently in the search for a ramp but don’t have one yet. Please let me know if you need a ramp (I will make sure it’s there on time for your appointment), There is enough space to wheel around in the tattoo area. The hall to the toilet is on the smaller side. The toilet is too small to fit a wheelchair. 

• The tattoo beds are sturdy massage tables. They don’t have a lift mechanism to lower though. When more comfortable for your body, it’s also possible to get tattooed while sitting on a chair. This is not possible though for all placements so please inform me beforehand when you want this.

• The studio is a private studio that only works on appointment so there are no walk-ins, which means it's calmer.

• There is a lot of natural light and there are smaller lights throughout the space. There is music on but on a softer volume.

• There is space for two tattooers, one hairdresser and a one nail artist (+ clients). The hairdresser is in a different space so noise of the blow dryer (which doesn’t happen often) will be minimal. 

• You can change outfits in the toilet when needed.
  

• You don’t have to talk during the tattooing if you don’t want to. You can bring your own headphones with music, book, crocheting piece etc.

• You can let me know if you want to plan in a "silent session". During these sessions, we only have the necessary communication regarding the tattoo. So no further chit-chats are held.
  

• You can let me know if you want me to wear a FFP2 mask and/or do a Covid-19 self-test.

• Homophobia, racism, transphobia, ableism will not be tolerated. If such behaved is noted, the person in question will be asked to leave the studio.

TATTOO PRICING

It's hard to give exact examples on how much a tattoo costs beforehand. This is because the price of a tattoo depends on different aspects such as (but not limited to): size, amount of detail and placement on the body. I'll always give a price (range) after you fill in your booking request.

There is a lot of (unseen) labor and expenses involved in the process of tattooing. The process is also something that can't be rushed. My prices reflect the time and labor that I put into your tattoo. 

To get a bit of a better idea on my prices:

• My tattoos start from €200,

• a half-day session is around €375,

• a day-session is around €750.

COLOUR INK TEST

Colour tattoos are possible on all skin tones, so also on BIPOC. If you want to know how certain (or colours in general) look on your skin, you can ask me for a colour swap test. I will tattoo some small stripes at least 3 weeks prior to your tattoo appointment (in any form you like) on your body (hidden when preferred). Colour tests are always free for people who identify as BIPOC.

Flashes

Flashes” are pre-drawn designs that I made. Generally I tattoo each flash only once. When they are repeatable, I will share this clearly. My available flashes can be found on my instagram (in my highlight) and in my drive folder (outside social media).

Lino stamp tattoos

I carve lino stamps which you can get tattooed. I use the lino stamp to actually “stamp” the image on your skin with stencil ink. After doing this, I will tattoo the image on you permanently with tattoo ink. By using this technique, the process from start to finish is done completely the analog way. I don’t need to use a computer or printer anymore, which is a truly wonderful experience. At the end of the session, you are able to bring the stamp home with you. There is also a tiny print included that I made with the lino stamp.

That’s how I came up with the “Lino stamp idea box” … you send in your idea and if I have the time / inspiration, I will make it for you! Below you will find more information about this concept and can send in your idea.

Self made stamps

It is also possible to send in your own lino stamp that you made. You can do this via my tattoo booking form. It depends on the specific design, size and material of the lino stamp if it’s possible for me to tattoo on you. When filling in my booking form, make sure to send an image of the actual stamp + image it prints. I recommend you to carve your stamp into soft lino, which is easier for me to clean properly. If you have any specific questions about your idea or want to know if a certain idea is possible (before carving your own stamp), you can send me an email.

Children’s drawing

If you have a drawing of yourself, your child, sibling, nibling etc. that you would like to get tattooed, I would absolutely be honoured in doing so. You can send in your idea with my tattoo booking form. I do want to add that I can’t promise that I can exactly translate the drawing 100% accurately. Sometimes I need to make small adjustments so that the drawing is tattooable. I will get in contact with you about the further specifics and if I need to make some small alterations, you will get the re-drawn version send by me BEFORE your tattoo appointment so that you can check if everything is alright and you agree with the re-drawn version.

Mix & Match tattoo
We will create a composition together with existing elements during our tattoo appointment. You can find more information about this project in this drive folder or via my instagram (in my highlights).

Custom tattoo

I will translate your idea into a tattoo design. Your idea needs to fit my style. When sending in your idea, please explain it as clear as possible with words, style-reference pictures of my work (no older than 3 years), reference pictures when needed and rough composition sketches (when possible). I won't take on all custom projects, which depends on the request and my energy levels. A sketch-fee of €50-150 applies for custom projects (on top of your tattoo price) which needs to be paid together with your down-payment and is non-refundable. Depending on the complexity of the request, we will plan in a sketch-appointment online or in real life in Rotterdam. I will send the tattoo design via mail before our appointment and you are able to give feedback, which I will implement. When wanting to switch ideas completely, a new sketch-fee needs to be paid. You can fill in my tattoo booking form when wanting a custom tattoo.

TATTOO STUDIO KYO

I tattoo as a resident artist at Kyō in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. the shop is a private studio, which means we only work on appointment.
